Kererū Class is for our youngest tamariki aged from 2- 3.5  years old.

Our Kereru environment introduces the Montessori kaupapa of 'choose, use and return' and  'practical life' mahi to encourage and support tamariki growing independence. Tamariki are introduced to a range of practical life skills through mahi, which includes pouring, transferring, sweeping, gardening, dressing skills, self help skills and kai preparation.

Our younger tamaiti are active beings, and growing in their language and social/emotional skills.  We provide a rich language and social learning environment through music, movement,  sensory play, stories, song, and dance.

This is encouraged throughout our programme, particularly during our daily hui time where tamaiti are encouraged to participate.

Kererū has its own outdoor playground and garden which we utilize in the mornings.

In the afternoons we join with the Tui class in the larger playground.

 

We regularly spend time in the bush where we enjoy nature based play, exploring our natural world.
