Our Guiding Principals
.
Ako
Tamariki (children), kaiako(teachers)and whānau (families) are continuously growing and learning from each other. Tamariki learn a holistic range of skillsthat support independence and foster individual choices and interests. Learning opportunities are inclusive andsupported by professional planning, collaboration and assessment.
Aroha
We demonstrate love, respect and compassion for one another. We role model kindness, caring and
empathy. We learn about friendship and inclusion. We listen, build connections and hold safe spaces. We are honest
about our needs and capacities. We focus on our strengths to understand and accept differences.
.
Manaakitanga
We are responsible for upholding the mana of ourself and others through hospitality, courtesy, care
and respect. Our learning environment is welcoming and we work together to care for it. We share resources and
reset mahi (activities) after they are used.
Whanaungatanga
We build warm and responsive relationships with tamariki, whānau and kaiako. We connect with
iwi and the wider community. We collaborate on learning and events. We share decision making and work in
partnership with whānau. We are professional in our relationships and communication.
Rangatiratanga
We share responsibilities and grow as leaders or role-models. We support independence and
autonomy for all while maintaining respect and integrity. Leaders respect the rights of others and consider the needs
of everyone. We act with integrity and make wise choices
Taiao
We are deeply connected to the natural world and our environment (Mana Whenua). Our relationship is
mutually sustainable when it is based on love, respect, belonging and care. We practice responsibility for nature and
recognise the benefits it offers for our health and wellbeing (Mana Atua). We learn together to grow our
understanding of the interconnected world around us to protect and nurture our environment (Mana Aotūroa).
